Qingdao WAN HE CHUN Pork Rib Rice

Comprehensive upgrade

Project Introduction

Wanhechun, a 86-year-old time-honored brand in Qingdao, has recently unveiled the renovation and upgrade of its second store. With the core concept of “Inheritance and Renovation”, Liu Ke Design Studio has created a dining space that blends historical heritage with contemporary flair by retaining the brand’s traditional elements and incorporating Qingdao’s urban memories. The store highlights Wanhechun’s 86-year development journey and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) craftsmanship, underscoring its cultural roots as a China Time-honored Brand and a holder of Shandong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage. While continuing to serve its classic Braised Spare Ribs with Rice, the venue introduces a new “Marinated & Fried Delicacies Counter”, enhancing the hands-on experience of the ICH workshop and allowing customers to witness the craftsmanship firsthand.Designed with a clean and sophisticated aesthetic, the space offers a comfortable and bright dining environment that balances historical weight with modern functionality. Wooden structures and warm lighting echo the brand’s warmth, while subtle details embedded with elements of Qingdao’s past evoke a strong emotional resonance.

The green plant landscape at the entrance and the natural light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, combined with natural materials such as rattan and wood, create a forest-like sense of relaxation in the enclosed space of the shopping mall, easing the fatigue of urban dwellers.

The themed light box of “Marinated & Fried Delicacies Buttery” at the main entrance, paired with the copy “Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop · Inheriting the Classics”, strengthens the brand’s cultural recognition; the electronic screen above the open kitchen plays the product making process in a loop, transforming the intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship into a visual marketing scene.

Wanhechun Deli: The All-New Sub-Brand of 2026.We don’t just offer dine-in experience—we understand the rhythm of life. Our takeaway window is open around the clock, with marinated meats sold by weight and fried snacks made fresh to order.

The combination of warm lighting, wooden textures and a bustling open kitchen for street food creates the intimate vibe of a “heritage snack shop right downstairs”, bridging the gap between time-honored brands and young consumers.
